GSO Neighborhood Toolbox is Back

Greensboro’s Office of Code Compliance has relaunched its free Neighborhood Toolbox Tool Lending Center. This year, the Neighborhood Toolbox is operating under new service hours. Pick-ups take place from 11am to 1 pm in the rear parking lot of 2400 Sixteenth Street on Thursdays. Returns should be made from 11 am to 1 pm the following Tuesday. Equipment can be reserved through the tool application form found on the City’s website, www.greensboro-nc.gov/Toolbox.

Davidson County Fraud Alert System

Davidson County Register of Deeds is pleased to announce an update to their Fraud Alert System, which is aimed at improving protection against property fraud and theft. In addition to email notifications, text message alerts are now available. This enhancement allows you to receive faster notification of potentially suspicious activity related to your property, helping you respond more quickly when it matters most. Arts and Culture Month in GSO

In honor of Arts and Culture Month, Creative Greensboro will host events throughout May showcasing a vibrant lineup of performances, community gatherings, and cultural experiences. New this year is AtriumLive, a weekly lunchtime music series, every Wednesday from 12:30-1:30pm, designed to bring live, local performances into the heart of downtown. Bennett College Centennial Alumnae Reunion Concert (END MAY 14)

Bennett College presents the Centennial Alumnae Reunion Concert on Thursday, May 14, starting at 7:30pm, at the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Chapel, 900 E Washington Street in Greensboro. DAC Fiery Festival (END MAY 16)

Disability Advocacy Center, a Non-Profit serving Guilford, Alamance, Rockingham, Randolph, and Caswell Counties, invites you to the annual Fiery Festival on Saturday, May 16, from 10am-2pm, at 1102 Grecade Street in Greensboro. Donate to GSO’s Housing First Plus Initiative

The City of Greensboro’s Community Safety Department is requesting donations of household items and furniture for the new Housing First Plus initiative. Housing First Plus is designed to move Greensboro’s most vulnerable individuals from the street into stable housing, while providing them intensive case management. ThriveShift “Recliner to 5k” Training Program

Leading up to the Juneteenth GSO Freedom Forward 5k on June 20th at Barber Park, ThriveShift Foundation, in partnership with Greensboro Parks & Recreation, has launched a free 8-week “Recliner to 5K” training program, available right now at Brown, Peeler, Lewis, Leonard, and Warnersville Recreation Centers. The City of Greensboro’s Office of Business Opportunity has launched its Small Business Enterprise Program, a certification initiative designed to help eligible small businesses access City contracting opportunities, increase visibility, and compete for future contracts. The North Carolina A&T State University Police Department would like to thank everyone who participated in their last Prescription Pill Take Back event — it was an amazing success! Register for Parks & Rec Basketball (END MAY 29)

Registration for the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department’s women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, and men’s summer competitive and recreational basketball leagues, runs through Friday, May 29. Competition for all three leagues is scheduled for June 8-July 24. Schedules will be emailed to team managers approximately one week before the start of the season. National Scouting NextGen Combine in Durham (END MAY 30)

The first ever National Scouting NextGen Combine is scheduled for May 30th at Northern High School in Durham, North Carolina. The event brings together high school football athletes from across the state for standardized athletic testing, position-specific drills, and performance evaluation. Participants complete speed, agility, and strength assessments under structured combine protocols, with results compiled into performance reports. The program supports youth athletic development through organized evaluation and data collection within a football scouting framework. Piedmont Animal Refuge Moral Philosophy Talk (END MAY 30)

Randolph County CARE and DARE Camps (END JUN 15)

This summer, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office will again offer CARE and DARE summer camps to homeschoolers and private school children, grades 2 through 7, at no cost. GSO FD Fire Citizen’s Academy (END JUL 23)

The Greensboro Fire Department will host its annual Fire Citizens’ Academy at multiple fire stations throughout Greensboro, beginning July 23 and concluding on September 10. This eight-week program will take place each week from 6 to 8:30pm. Participants will also receive free CPR and First Aid certification as part of the program. Randolph County CARE Classic Golf Tournament (END AUG 12)

Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the Second Annual C.A.R.E. Classic Golf Tournament, scheduled for August 27 at 247 Pinewood Road in Asheboro. The C.A.R.E. Classic supports the Child Abuse Reduction Effort program, providing child abuse prevention education to second graders in nearly every school across Randolph County. The Aggies at the Goal Line program has been helping former North Carolina A&T State University students of all ages complete their degrees. Take Me Home

The Greensboro Police Department will be participating in the “Take Me Home” program. “Take Me Home” is a free program that allows family members and legal guardians to upload critical information for individuals with a cognitive impairment or developmental disability in the event that a registered individual encounters law enforcement or is reported missing. TRIAD Goodwill Accepts Food Donations

A lot of people don’t know this, but Triad Goodwill accepts food donations and routes them to local food banks. Non-perishable food items are collected in all 23 Donation Centers located in Guilford, Alamance, Randolph, Rockingham and Caswell counties.
